A journey thought for those who are willing to enjoy a top quality slow visit, made of not-to-be-missed stop-offs in a land listed into world heritage sites, and awarded the "Piedmont vineyard and wine landscapes" designation

Day 1: Monferrato Infernot

Arrival in Piedmont, at the heart of Monferrato hills, among the vineyards from which Barbera Superiore GCDO (Guaranteed Controlled Designation of Origin) is produced - an elegant wine scented by the sandstone soil its vineyards grow. A panoramic tour along hill roads connecting Camagna Monferrato, Cella Monte, Frassinello Monferrato, Olivola, Ottiglio, Ozzano Monferrato, Rosignano Monferrato, Sala and Vignale, with ad hoc stop-offs to visit infernot and taste Barbera wine. An Infernot is a small underground room, dug into the "Pietra da Cantoni" rock, with no lighting or ventilation. They can usually be accessed through a cellar and are used to store bottled wine. Their constant temperature and humidity. There are various types of Infernot: single room, multi-room or corridor-shaped. There are also various types of bottle holder: recess, step or long shelf. Some are decorated and others even have a table dug out of the rock. Each Infernot is unique and was created by normal people. In short, it represents the material and immaterial heritage of Monferrato.

Day 2: Canelli and Asti Spumante wine

Today tour heads to "Nizza Superiore" and Moscato d'Asti hills. Along the tracks winding among vineyards, from Agliano Terme, to Castelnuovo Calcea, Mombercelli, Montegrosso d'Asti, Nizza Monferrato, Vaglio Serra, Vinchio, Calosso and Canelli. Visitors cannot but enjoy the breathtaking overview that stretches from Monte Rosa to the Ligurian Apennine. A visit to Nizza village, Bersano historical museum and a family-managed cellar to taste "Nizza Superiore" wine, accompanied by hunchback cardoon PGI (Protected Geographic Indication), and to toast with sweet Moscato d'Asti wine. Participants will visit Canelli village, overlooked by Gancia castle. Italian spumante was born in Canelli. The so-called "underground cathedrals" are definitely worth visiting - they are the enchanted world heritage cellars where the classic method spumante is preserved. A Spumante bottle sabrage is exciting, and eating a Moscato flavoured ice-cream is a gustatory experience that can be live in this unique land only.

Day 3 Barbaresco Hills

Starting from Canelli, the tour follows the "Moscato pathway", bordered by blond vineyards, to head to S. Stefano Belbo small farmhouses. After the first stop-off at Cesare Pavese's house to get to know Langhe poetry, participants will get to Barbaresco DOCG production site. In Barbaresco village, overlooked by Barbara tower, the Enoteca Regionale welcomes participants at the tiny Saint Donatus' church and a wine producer waits for them to appreciate the violet and rose hints of his excellent wines. Back on the pathway toward Neive, acknowledged as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and then down the hills to reach Alba, participants will enjoy a visit to the one-hundred tower town, the very heart of local peasant life - an open hearted Medieval town, a meeting location rich in art pieces and charming tiny food specialty boutiques, whose lively life culminates with the Truffle International market, on show in town in October each year.

Day 4 Barolo Langa

Starting from Alba heading Southwards, the tour aims at making participants know the world renowned land of Barolo - hills nearby the town, indeed a world apart. A place suspended in time, a "world heritage site" since 2014, surrounded by Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Diano d'Alba, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, and Grinzane Cavour villages. The tour includes stop-offs in each village, with a visit at an hisotical cellar and one in a family managed cellar - a fascinating way to get to know history and everyday work and life. Tour includes a visit to the Wine Museum in Barolo and to Serralunga fortress to enjoy an unrivalled landscape.

Day 5 Grinzane Cavour castle

The tour ends in the land of world heritage "Piedmont vineyard and wine landscapes" with a visit to Grinzane Cavour castle " one of the symbols of this land.
