Day 1

Depart from Alba, the small town whose name means "bright land", is known for the white truffle, the rare Tuber Magnatum Pico diffused by Giacomo Morra all over the world. This is the birth-town of the writer Beppe Fenoglio "" from which Johnny, the partisan left " to the supreme hills" (extract of the book "Johnny the Partisan"); where on Sundays wine producers of gorgeous DOCG wines as Barolo, Barbaresco; hazelnuts tradesmen and great cheeses sellers converge in a multicoloured market.

Alba is rich of various medieval monuments: the towered houses, the towers, the courtyards, San Lorenzo Cathedral with the gothic bell-tower and the choir, the Romanesque church of San Domenico, the church of La Maddalena, projected bythe architect Antonio Vittone, who was a pupil of Filippo Juvarra. Other places tell some modern stories as the Marmet Court for elastic-ball games and the Convitto site of the resistance movement.

Alba has also produced many famous men: Macrino,the 16th century painter; the government minister Michele Coppino (1826-1901); the talented artist Pinot Gallizio (1902-1963) who invented new expressive forms; the jurist Teobaldo Calissano and many others.

Day 2

Discover the Langhe Hills, located in the south of Piedmont, these hills are famous for the white truffle of Alba (Tuber Magnatum Pico) and for great DOCG wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Moscato and Asti Spumante. Guided visit to the castle of Grinzane Cavour, residence of the Count Camillo Benso, who was author of the Italian unity. Nowadays the castle is keeping furniture of Cavour, an ethnographic museum and it is the seat of the Regional Enoteca of Piedmont.

Visit and wine tasting in a winery producing Barolo wine and other wines of the area: (Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Langhe Chardonnay). Lunch in a typical inn: the famous entries, the "tajarin" a hand made kind of pasta, braised meat in Barolo wine. In the afternoon, short walk among woods to meet a "trifolao" the truffle hunter with his dog for simulated truffle hunting. Visit to the village of Barolo and the Castle today WI - MU "the International Museum of Wine" This Museum is a masterpiece of F. Confino, the author of the International Museum of Cinema in Turin, genius and recklessness has transformed the conventional traditions in a place of amusement, an extension of the senses that will enjoy the pleasure of entering the wine, snatch its most abstract, to discover the hidden side of games, colors, sensations and wonderss

Day 3

Cooking lesson: guided by a chef, each traveller could learn how to prepare some of the unique and traditional recipes tasting such as the "ravioli del plin" a hand made kind of pasta. Lunch eating the results!
